In our diverse society is is necessary for practitioners to gain knowledge and skills to care for families and youth in a culturally sensitive and competent manner. Saguaro Evaluation Group provides cultural competence workshops in which practitioners will learn to respond effectively to people of all cultures, ethnic, and racial backgrounds, religions, etc. The workshops are interactive but also provide time for reflection.
Logic Models and Strategic Planning
SEG offers workshops to help individuals understand the Logic Model and how to use it as a tool to build their organization's strategic planning. These workshops are hand-on sessions during which individuals will actually work on their strategic plan and receive direct feedback from the workshop facilitators.
Organizational skills are important because they help individuals to work productively, reducing the stress and anxiety that usually accompanies disorganization. SEG Organizational Skills Training will help individuals to identify techniques to organize their time as well as the physical space in which they work and live. The training includes both time and task management skills.
In the past, promotoras were community health workers or advisors. Today, the Promotora Model is used in a variety of contexts but always with the focus on community education. Promotoras are lay workers who typically live in the communities that they serve. The Promotora Model is particularly effective when the target population is hard-to-reach because of language barriers, or cultural, religious or other differences. Saguaro Evaluation Group provides workshops in which participants will review the Promotora Model and discuss ways in which their organizations could incorporate this approach to their programs.
