Our Story: Bringing Communities and Professionals Together
Saguaro Evaluation Group (SEG) was founded in 2012 by Dr. Monica Parsai to fill an important gap between university level evaluation and training and the services available to local agencies and businesses.
Monica learned the many applications of the Community-Based Participatory Research and Evaluation model while working at an NIH-funded Center of Excellence in Health and Health Disparities.
As a social worker Monica has a passion for working with diverse communities including American Indians; Hispanic/Latinos; individuals with special health care needs; and persons self-identifying as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT). Additionally, she has a sincere interest in making it easier for local agencies and corporations to have access to professionals trained in CBPR.
Monica purposefully crafted SEG services to offer a myriad to training and evaluation services ranging from limited short-term to intensive long-term partnerships. SEG is committed to serving the community's best interests, striving to meet organizations where they are at in capacity and budget. Additionally, SEG offers mindful facilitation and coordination of large-scale system change efforts.
In the almost five years since founding SEG, Monica has been fortunate to work with diverse partners including county and state health departments, nonprofit agencies, and local businesses. SEG's commitment to bring the CBPR model to the wider community is exemplified in their yearly Pro-Bono Project where she and the SEG team donate evaluation and/or training services to a local nonprofit agency.
