Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs:
A Maricopa County Needs Assessment and Implications for Policy and Systems Changes Saguaro Evaluation Group through funding from the Maricopa Department of Public Health and Arizona Department of Health Services performed a needs assessment regarding children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) in Maricopa County in June 2013. Needs assessment findings and recommendations from the eight focus groups with parents/caregivers (English and Spanish), CYSHCN youth, and providers as well as the online surveys were complied in a comprehensive report. Community Listening Sessions SEG evaluators worked with community partners and MCDPH to disseminate the major needs assessment findings to the general public and providers across Maricopa County. Community Listening Sessions were an opportunity for parents/caregivers and providers of children or youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) (children with a physical, mental, behavioral and/or developmental condition) to:
